Veterinarian, Medical Director

Dr Ryder offers veterinary care including cancer chemotherapy for pets in Blue Springs and surrounding Kansas City areas.

As the Medial Director at Blue Springs Animal Hospital & Pet Resort, Dr. Ryder provides leadership for the doctor team and mentors new associate doctors.

Dr. Ryder move to the Kansas City area and joined the team at Blue Springs Animal Hospital in June of 2005 after he graduated from veterinary school at North Carolina State University. He grew up in Arkansas, and his wife Amanda grew up in Oklahoma, so Blue Springs is much closer to family! Dr. Ryder’s interests include internal medicine and veterinary ultrasound. He has completed advanced training courses in veterinary ultrasound and enjoys using ultrasound to diagnose internal abdominal conditions. Dr. Ryder is also interested in veterinary dentistry and cancer chemotherapy. Dr. Ryder is happy to accept second opinions or local referrals for veterinary ultrasound, ultrasound-guided aspirates or biopsies of abdominal organs, and for cancer chemotherapy.

Dr. Ryder met his wife when they were attending Oklahoma State University for undergrad. She is a chemist and works with developing new pharmaceuticals. They have 3 four-legged children (2 cats and 1 dog), and 2 two-legged children, Michael and Savannah. Keeping track of everybody can be hard at times, so Dr. Ryder has recently acquired a taste for Starbucks!

When he is not at work, Dr. Ryder enjoys reading, camping, and running.

“It is a great blessing to come to work and really enjoy it.  Ever since I was in grade school, I wanted to be a veterinarian.  The job is everything I expected it to be and more.  My greatest joy in practice is the relationships that I get to build with my patients and clients.  I look forward to seeing you soon!”
